The time interval the e-mail is sent out prior to the archive/deletion date should be adjustable by administrators.

Sometimes when students ask a question, it makes you wonder if they watched the lecture videos. Panopto allows you to figure this out using Stats, which allows you to download access logs, indicating who watched which videos, when and for how long.

For some inexplicable reason, these results contain an arbitrary, default filer of "past 30 days." The location of the filter is on the top right of the screen, while the button that generates the report is on the bottom left, making it incredibly easy to miss.

Twice now I have mentioned that a student should watch the videos, only to be told that they have. When I run the query, it indicates that they have not, because it is filtering out activity that happened more than 30 days ago.

Please remove the default filter.

We are reevaluating our current use of Panopto for some online courses and one major sticking point is that reference copies do not currently order/provision captions when they are moved into a folder that automatically orders captions.

This functionality is really critical for us to be successful with Reference Copies. Without, it is so unbelievably difficult to order them manually once you get beyond a layer or two of Reference Copies because you have to walk up the tree one by one.

You should also be able to go into a reference copy and order captions on the original session without needing to traverse up the structure to find the original session first.

With the new storage-based hours buckets, it's more important to know how often your users restore videos from the archive, moving them from one hours bucket to another. I've spent a lot of time analyzing report data trying to figure out how we can stay under our quotas but restored sessions are one variable I can't account for easily. Panopto doesn't provide any tools specifically for this; one could utilize various reports and analyze changes over time, but there's no one-stop solution for determining how much content was restored in a given time period. I have two parallel suggestions:

Restored Sessions Report - create a new report with information (id, folder, owner, length, etc.) for sessions that were restored in a given time period.

Add a new tab to the Content Retention area for restored videos, perhaps similar to the current Audit tab, with data that can be downloaded in a structured format (e.g. CSV)

It might be important, for either of these suggestions, to be able to distinguish why a session was archived, too. The report, for instance, could contain a column stating which retention policy placed a session in the archive or whether it was by user action (and which user).

Our librarians have a need for a different set of metrics in analytics reports and we need for them to be able to run those reports on their own 😁. I submitted a feature request a little over one year ago FR-4936. Comments describing what they are looking for are below. Would this type of report or reports be helpful to anyone else?

"We currently use the "Downloads by day" report, but we have to use a pivot table to aggregate the results for each video into monthly blocks. We also have to manually add the video owner, session length, and description manually. It would be nice to have a view that is more focused on aggregate stats and less on individual student engagement, along with more administrative metadata. "

"I need to download viewing data for videos in the Libraries Panopto folders. When I go into the Analytics Dashboard for a particular folder, I see a box with "Top Sessions" where I can see a list of sessions with the # of views & downloads in the first column. However, when I click on the download icon in that box, I get a report that shows views per user, not per video. The other Download Reports that I have access to are "Views & Downloads by Day," "Top Viewers," and "User Completion." Can we get a report option that shows "Views per Video/Presentation" with the option to select date range?"

1) We aren't interested in person-level specifics.

2) We do want to know when a session was viewed.

3) We do need to know how many times a session was viewed.

4) We do not need minutes or % viewed.

5) We would like to run one report for each folder.

6) We do not need video section views.

On occasion, some new videos do not get automatically generated captions, or people want old videos without captions to have them added.

In order to do this you have to go to each individual recording select Settings, then Manage, then scroll down to select Re-process and finally select Ok. When you do that the page refreshes and takes you to the top of the recordings list, so you then have to scroll through again to find the other videos. This is a really long-winded and time-consuming way to do things but is even worse when you have multiple videos.

Sure I can raise a ticket to help out with the mass lot of videos, but that just wastes everyone's time and makes add delays to our users who want the captions asap.

What we could really do with is at the folder level a button to re-process multiple selected videos or a button for adding captions. In the same way, if you start selecting multiple videos in a folder, you will then see more options to Move recordings etc. We could have this extra button show there for only people with an admin role. It would be a great time saver.

We have a large organization and one of the things we do is upload content for our users to their folders. When doing so it ties the uploader to the video as a creator and this cant be changed. We can change the owner but not the stream creator.

So when a user sets sharing permission to not open, then shares a link (forgetting to grant access) the videographer that uploaded the video also gets a request to access notification.

The videographer is not listed as the owner and only as the videographer and the stream creator. This creates a notification problem.

There is already an option to override notification to "creators" in favor of specific email addresses. Adding an option to instead email just the video owner would make the most sense. Then the owner can handle those requests without bothering others.

There are a few reports that you can run as an admin on the system. But anything outside of those reports, you can't run yourself. You have to wait for Panopto Support to run it for you. It would be nice to have the ability to run reports on our own system without needing support to step in. This is especially helpful if someone is asking for a report last minute that they didn't know they needed - I would run the report myself if I could - but in the past, we've had support get back to us after the meeting ends, which isn't helpful.

Currently the "show scheduled recordings" button only appears in the full Panopto site and not in the LMS/LTI view (at least in Canvas). This leads to us having to direct faculty to do an extra step whenever we instruct them how to view their upcoming scheduled recordings (if they want to pre-share a live stream with an absent student for example). I can't see any reason that button shouldn't be accessible in that view.

We have eight rooms where we include two content sources in addition to the camera in the recording session. We use Epiphan recorders for these recordings. In these rooms, it is possible to project two content sources next to each other. It regularly happens that teachers have enough with one content source, so one source of black video is recorded by the Epiphan recorder. Teachers should remove this unused content source afterwards in the editor in the overview of the different streams. It would be nice if Panopto offered a possibility to automatically detect and remove black video.
