Recorder Groups

Would it be helpful to anyone else if there were recorder groups?
I'd like to be able to assign Dept Admins, Recorder Admins, an Admin group or any other user group to a recorder group. It would also be helpful to assign individual users to recorder groups and assign recorder groups to Departments.

Yes. Assigning Remote Recorders (or groups of recorders) to specific departments and allowing them to be managed by their staff would be great.
In theory, someone might want to have a recorder in more than one group and be able to be managed by more than one group but that's so edge case, the benefits far outweigh the downsides.

@Charles Barbour we do have a case where recorders are managed by more than one group. Having a recorder in multiple groups would be great!
@Brian Dyer What we do is we have local Panopto groups for the department admins in each area and when they spin up a new RR device, we add their group to that.
That group is set as the department admin for the area and it also has access to administer the proper remote recorders. When someone is added/removed it is a simple process to update. It works great for us.
With that said, I think that users, groups, and RRs should be able to be associated with one or more departments so they can be administered within an area.
This just came up in a Panopto training webinar and I wondered if it was any closer to being implemented.
Would like to see this as well.
