Notification of issue affecting the display of the embedded video player

Hello - We want to let you know about an issue affecting the display of the embedded video player. 


What is the issue?

There are some scenarios in which the embedded video player will display a black frame without any interactive user controls. 


This can occur when feedback needs to be displayed to a user to indicate why playback is not immediately possible. 


Examples of impacted workflows include, but are not limited to:

  • Prompts to sync access with the LMS
  • Prompts to unarchive content before viewing
  • Notifications that the content cannot be played due to availability window settings


Which versions of Panopto are affected?

Panopto Cloud


How do I tell if this affects me?

This affects all Panopto Cloud customers who are utilizing the embedded viewer.


How do I mitigate the issue?

Open the Panopto VCMS, navigate to the folder where the content is located, and then open the video in the interactive viewer.


When will this be resolved?

This issue is expected to be resolved in all cloud environments by October 6th.
