Hello - We want to let you know about an issue affecting recording with Panopto for Mac.


What is the issue?

An alert is presented when Panopto for Mac detects completely silent audio to warn the user that their recording may be at risk. When the alert is acknowledged in this scenario, the recording is stopped without warning.


Which versions of Panopto are affected?

This affects all supported versions of Panopto for Mac.


How do I tell if this affects me?

This will affect anyone who uses Panopto for Mac with a fully muted audio signal. Fully muted audio signals typically only occur with microphone mute functions and third-party software that is used to detect and eliminate background noise.


How do I mitigate the issue?

  • Do not acknowledge silent audio alerts
  • Do not use hardware or software that completely mutes audio


When will this be resolved?

We expect to resolve this issue in the next Panopto for Mac update, which is currently planned to be released by January 8th, 2024.

    The updated Panopto for Mac client is in the final stages of development and will be released by January 19, 2024. We sincerely apologize for this delay.
