CSS style sheet for file listing - more compact

Getting loud complaints from one individual who insists there's "too much white space" in the file listing. We've suggested work arounds like setting to "Table View" and using the browser's zoom out feature. But to no avail. They are adamant it should be a "tighter". I know desktop apps like MS Outlook allow for a tight/loose setting for the list of emails in a folder.
Is there a possibility of allowing an even "more compact" file name list in Table View ? Just to provide a shorter scrolling list of all the files in a folder?
