New REST API Endpoint to List All Folders Accessible by a Specific User (Including Personal Folder)
Dear Panopto Support,
We are currently building an integration middleware that relies heavily on Panopto’s REST API. As part of this development, we urgently require an enhancement to your API functionality. We have been in touch with Nicolas Roux, who advised us to escalate this via your support ticketing system.
We would like to request the implementation of a new REST API endpoint that, given a user identifier (email or Panopto user ID), returns a list of all folders that user has access to, including their personal folder(s).
While we are aware of the existing GET /api/v1/folders/creator
endpoint, this retrieves folders where the API-calling account is a creator — not the folders that a specified user can access. This distinction is critical. Our middleware needs to programmatically determine where to route non-teaching recordings, many of which should be stored in the user's personal folder.
We understand that some of this may be achievable via your SOAP API, but our integration is designed to exclusively use the REST API for simplicity, maintainability, and future support.
We would appreciate your support in implementing this endpoint as soon as possible. Please contact us immediately if you need any technical details or if it would be helpful to arrange a short online meeting to accelerate the process.
Thank you in advance.
