Show recording timer while "Communicating with Server" message is displayed

Whenever I start a video, I wait to see the timer, to make sure I know the application is recording.
Frustratingly, the first time I record after starting up the application, the following messages display;
"Starting up Devices", "Communicating with Server"
Often the second message is there for a few seconds before changing to a timer, revealing that 5 seconds or so has already elapsed on the recording. I know this is a simple thing and I can just edit the start out, but it would presumably be pretty easy for you to just display the timer alongside the message, not hidden behind it, so that I can see the recording has begun and I can start talking!
