GetSessionsByExternalId Slowness

We are attempting to use external id on a session to association a recording with a particular class session. GetSessionsById is relatively fast (subsecond response time), however, GetSessionsByExternalId takes anywhere from 10 seconds to 53 seconds to return 1 session. This makes external id pretty much useless through the api. Is this field indexed? Can it be indexed to speed this up?

Thanks for letting us know about the performance issue you're seeing when using the GetSessionsByExternalId SOAP API call. I'm unsure what could be causing it off the top of my head, but I have filed an internal work item for the team to investigate the slow performance and see what we can do to improve it.
