Record Clips from The Editor

When I'm going over material I've previously recorded, sometimes I want to clarify or supplement what's in the video with my own clip as an annotation. The process now is to go back to a previous tab where I can access "+ Create" and record myself and the screen via Panopto Capture in the browser. However, I think it would be really helpful if one could just record a new clip straight from the editor using "Add Clip", having a recording feature available there so I could insert it straight to the timeline right there where I want it in the editor instead of having to back track to "Panopto Capture", record the clip, and then insert it from where I saved it. Might there be a way to implement a solution like this?

  • Hi Mitchell,

That’s a really good suggestion, having the ability to record and insert a new clip directly from the editor would definitely save time and streamline the workflow. Switching back and forth between the editor and Panopto Capture can be disruptive, especially when you just want to add a quick clarification or annotation.

A built-in recording option inside the editor, similar to how some lightweight tools handle quick captures (like arceus ios for fast in-app actions), could make the editing experience much smoother and more efficient. Hopefully, the Panopto team considers implementing something like this in a future update.

Great feature request, it would be a big productivity boost for many users!
