Re: Automated Language recognition / simple language change per video
And also maybe adding this request caption feature to be directly in the editor because it's kind of hidden in the settings
Re: Automated Language recognition / simple language change per video
Thank you Evelin, I created a case to ask my question in a first time but they told me to do a feature request.
I think maybe the automatic language recognition could be a good feature in addition to manual language change
Re: Equation editor in quizzes
I've had this request from faculty - otherwise the quiz feature is useless to them.
Re: Hot key for pausing/resuming recordings
This would be awesome, and I would love a visible Pause Button in the Browser Capture! Zoom has one, why not Panopto. It is pushing my users to record in Zoom instead of Panopto!
Re: Delay video release by one day
I wouldn't hold your breath, but good luck!
We're still waiting for a way to schedule recordings just by uploading a csv file to the site. I could do that in Echo360 and Mediasite almost a decade ago. I was told Panopto was working on it 4-5 years ago.
Re: Delay video release by one day
I have. A couple instructors wanted the videos to not be available for 24 hours and then some wanted them to become unavailable X days after recording.
I requested Panopto make this a setting which could be set when scheduling recordings but nothing has happened with it.
Since there is no way to do this automatically, I just set the instructors or TAs up as publishers and set the folder to require approval.
IIRC, you can delay release of a video until captions are available. In theory you could set the folder to automatically caption the videos with a third party and a 1 day turnaround. It would just cost you X minutes * $Y/minute * Z class periods.
60 minutes*$4*30=$7200. Seems like a reasonable solution to a fairly simple problem! 😉
Re: Button to Swap Primary and Secondary Streams for a Session
Any update on this? In my scenario, I use a automatic tracking camera as my primary video. It is a POE camera and I noticed it losing power just as the class was starting, so I swapped to the wideshot as my primary so I wouldn't lose the capture. After I did that, the close up camera seemed to stabilize, so it would be great if I could swap them back after the recording is over.
Sad that people seem to be asking for the same features for years without getting any response....
Re: An easier way to make individual recordings available to individual students
I have some faculty who only want to have recordings available to students that have an excused absence or sick and miss a class.
What they've asked me to do is schedule the Panopto remote recorder to record all their class sessions, but have them record to their personal folder instead of the course folder. From there they will individually email the student who needs the recording and make sure the recordign has the appropriate permissions on it so that student can view and nobody else.

- Fixed an issue where Automatic Speech Recognition results were not generated for videos stored in folders that had not been configured with Automatic Machine Captions. Note: This release fixes the issue for new videos going forward. Videos created while the bug was active will have their Automatic Speech Recognition re-run after the release.
