Panopto for Windows update 2021-02-12

Note: The Panopto for Windows and Remote Recorder 9.0.0 release is not compatible with Panopto On-Prem version 9. The next major Panopto for Windows and Remote Recorder release is currently planned for the spring 2021.

  • Updated the installation and authentication of the Remote Recorder to use registration keys. For installation instructions, please see: How to Download and Install the Remote Recorder. Please note: The silent installation instructions have also been updated: How to Use Silent Install for the Remote Recorder.
  • Added a new advanced setting in Panopto for Windows to control if a separate slide is captured for each animation in PowerPoint capture. This option is 'on' by default, which is the same behavior as past recorders.
  • Added a new advanced setting selection in Panopto for Windows to control if PowerPoint slides are captured as screen images versus generated after the recording. Forcing this setting to 'off' will better allow support for single monitor presenter view recordings, but may result in some animations or fonts being displayed differently. This option defaults to 'auto,' which is the same behavior as past recorders.
  • Fixed an issue where, at the start of a recording, the recording timer could display 'Starting Devices' or 'Communicating with server' even though the recording had begun.
  • Fixed an issue where the first slide captured in a PowerPoint slide show could show a user's desktop or otherwise fail to capture the slide correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where uploads could get stuck at 0%
  • Fixed an issue where .pptx PowerPoint files uploaded via Panopto for Windows or the Remote Recorder may have incorrectly had the .ppt extension applied to them on download, making them unable to be opened.
  • Support for Windows 7 SP1 is now deprecated.
