Service update 2020-05-19

Please note: This update will be available at the end of business on May 19th for the North America, Canada, and European cloud and the end of business on May 20th for the AP and Australia clouds.

  • Improved the user experience for managing clips and their order with a video timeline in the editor. Users can now drag and drop the clips to the desired location from the timeline UI (first image). For clips that are back to back, the clip order can be changed from the 'Clips' tab in the left pane. Hovering on any clip in the left tab will highlight the same clip in the timeline and vice versa (second image).

  • Improved the quality of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) for English, Spanish, German, and Dutch. Additionally, a new vocabulary related to Covid-19 was added.
  • Added a new column to the video-oriented analytics dashboard tables that report video duration in minutes.
  • Introduced a new per-video setting to allow seeking to be disabled until a user has watched a video completely.
  • Improved the reliability of the Zoom meeting import feature, where Panopto will retry importing for a certain error response from Zoom servers.
  • Improved protection against cross-site scripting attacks in some LMS integrations.
  • Added new endpoints to the Public REST API to allow uploading captions to an edited video or allow uploading captions to an unedited stream.
  • Added a new endpoint to the Public REST API to allow deleting captions that exist in a video.

  • Fixed an issue where ASR failed with a session log "process hasn't exited" under a very rare condition.
  • Fixed an issue where slide processing of .ppsx files could fail.
  • Fixed an issue where users whose authentication cookie had expired could receive an error while trying to log in.
  • Fixed a rare issue where Zoom/WebEx imported content, which was not natively playable in browsers, would freeze during playback.
  • Fixed a recent minor regression where remote control didn't work properly in the Panopto mobile app.
