Display preview image in the viewer before playback starts

Currently when autoplay is not allowed by the browser the interactive viewer only shows a black box in the player that takes up the majority of the screen. It would be great if the frames that generally display the video streams while playing content would show the preview image along with a larger play button to prompt the user to click. There is a small flag now that pops up from the play button that is alright for users familiar with the platform, but showing a preview image would clearly illustrate to the user that the content loaded properly and the larger call to action button would hopefully prompt them to click to begin playback.

We are experiencing the same problem. If anybody knows of a solution, we would be very grateful!
We followed the suggested solution in this post: https://community.panopto.com/discussion/575/why-does-embedding-a-video-into-a-blackboard-item-sometimes-result-in-a-black-box and it solved our problem. The black box embedded in Canvas now displays the preview image. Hope this helps somebody else!
Huh, I wonder why changing the podcast type affects the thumbnail image? It seems like the embed player and the podcast player shouldn't be so interdependent?
Not sure if this is helpful, but it seemed we were only getting the black box when a Panopto video's primary stream was the sound track. We weren't having a problem when it isn't.
