Does Panopto plan on publishing everything via REST API moving forward vs SOAP?

API for new functionality will be targeted towards REST going forward. Panopto also plans to migrate most of existing SOAP API features to new REST API next 2 years in phases.

Because the migration of existing SOAP API takes some time and Panopto plans to keep existing SOAP API for foreseeable future, it is recommended to stay on SOAP API if new REST API does not satisfy your requirements at this time. Panopto might opt to add SOAP support for new functionality in some cases to facilitate the transition period.

Panopto may redesign some API when migrating from SOAP to REST in order to cover wider range of functionalities compared to existing API. In this case, the calling code needs to adjust its logic beyond simple 1:1 replacement of existing API calls.

Panopto might choose to delay migration beyond above period for some features that are used by very limited number of customers.
