API call to get Remote Recorder preview thumbnails? (2019-11-14)

When an instructor hits Blank Screen on the Crestron panel in the classroom, it's supposed to blank the projector and also stop sending content to Panopto. Recently we've had some AV programming changes where that no longer worked as expected.
And of course we discovered this when during an Exam review sesion an instructor hit the Blank Screen button, pulled up the actual exam, and Panopto recorded the entire exam. Some students obviously noticed this and shared it amongst themselves. (Fortunately at least one student reported it to the professor and he changed the exam questions!)
I'm wondering is there is any way to use the API to get the thumbnails for the content and/or video inputs. If so, when we hit blank screen, we could grab a thumbnail and display it on the touch panel as a verification.
We might even be able to do image analysis to determine whether Panopto is still receiving content or it has successfully switched to that (god-awful) green colored screen, and then allow us to take further action (Like popping up a notification on the touch panel or switching Crestron inputs).
That might not be practical for in room usage by faculty (delays in thumbnail updating, time it takes to perform image analysis and return the results, etc.), but it might be useful to help us do classroom checks and test new crestron code.
Does such an API call exist?

Hi Charles,
Thank you for asking this question. As of today, Panopto does not provide the mechanism to retrieve thumbnail picture from Remote Recorder (either locally on the recorder or server API SOAP or REST). We are going to consider adding this feature to our REST API in the future release.

Bummer. I wonder if there would be a way to pull a video frame from the input on the computer?

Charles,
I am sorry that we do not have it as of today. We are going to consider adding it in the future release.
