Notification of issue affecting Panopto for Mac video uploads

Hello - We want to let you know about an issue with uploading videos containing Keynote presentations with Panopto for Mac.
What is the issue?
Panopto for Mac videos created with the latest version of Keynote (13.x) will fail to upload if the Record Keynote option is selected during the recording.
The recording status in Panopto for Mac will relay the following error:
“Keynote slide files missing. Retrying upload will fix this.”
It should be noted that the root cause of the failure to upload can be attributed to the unrecoverable loss of slide metadata.
Which versions of Panopto are affected?
All supported versions of Panopto for Mac are affected.
How do I tell if this affects me?
This affects all Panopto for Mac users that have upgraded to the latest Keynote.
How do I mitigate the issue?
- Avoid upgrading to Keynote 13.x.
- If Panopto for Mac is your preferred recording client, select the option to record your screen as a secondary source, and do not use the option to Record Keynote.
- Mac users may also use Panopto Capture with a supported browser.
When will this be resolved?
We will provide a status update on this issue by 7/21.

This issue has been isolated to installations of Keynote 13.1 and has been resolved with the release of Keynote 13.2.

Our engineering team is continuing to track this issue and will provide another update by August 21st.
Our engineering team is planning the work required to update Panopto for Mac for compatibility with the latest version of Keynote. We will provide another update by September 15th.
We apologize for the delay in providing an update on the status of this issue. We do not yet have a committed date to resolve this issue and will provide another status update by October 27th.
Additionally, it should be noted that the root cause of the failure to upload can be attributed to the unrecoverable loss of slide metadata. The original post is being updated to reflect this information.
Panopto for Mac users are still encouraged to use the screen or PowerPoint recording features as an alternative to recording Keynote until a solution is available.
We are working on this issue and will provide another update by November 11th.
