How can we get embedded Panopto videos in D2L to play on Apple devices?

We have an issue where students cannot access Panopto videos embedded in their D2l subject content on Apple devices. I have found that this seems to be common and when we had the same issue with Blackboard students had to change the third party cookies settings in Safari to get videos to work. But is there a solution other than students having to change settings on all apps and browsers?
