Quarterly Release 2024-04-04 feat. Transcript Download

Please note: This update will be applied at the end of business hours on Apr 4th for the North America and Canada clouds and the end of business hours on Apr 5th for the European, Asia-Pacific, and Australia clouds.

  • Added a button to the viewer and embed player to download a clean caption transcript - without timestamps, for any user with access to view when the new site wide admin setting (‘Captioning - Enable Download in Viewers’) is true. The default setting is false. See How to Download Captions from the Viewer for more information.
  • Updated to the latest version of Speechmatics, which includes Ursa processing for reduced word error rate in many languages. This update also includes specific training work completed with customers to significantly improve the quality of Norwegian captions.
  • Added the ability for site admins to remove “Powered by Panopto” branding. When this new site setting (‘Features - Show 'Powered by Panopto' branding’) is set to true (default), it will show the branding in the site header, interactive viewer, embed player, Panopto Capture, and system generated emails. When set to false, it will be hidden in all these areas.
  • Added support for Basque language features, including automatic captions powered by Automatic Speech Recognition, search, Optical Character Recognition, Smart Chapters and Custom Dictionary. To enable Basque support for new content, select Basque as the Content Language in folder settings, or contact Support to set Basque as the default language site-wide.   • Added the video name as an aria-description on the iframe for embedded videos to improve accessibility.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a Panopto video to show as "Processing" when uploaded through the Embedded Session Chooser, even after the video has completed its processing.
  • Fixed a potential cross-site scripting vulnerability in Panopto's SCORM integration.
  • Fixed an issue that could result in a user being redirected to an invalid URL after logging into Panopto, if the ReturnUrl parameter was not formatted properly.
  • Fixed a potential cross-site scripting vulnerability with javascript: URLs in intro tour video URL settings to limit the impact of a compromised Admin account.
  • Fixed a potential cross-site scripting vulnerability with HTML in the "Captioning - Custom Message for Settings Menu" site setting to limit the impact of a compromised Admin account.
  • Fixed a potential cross-site scripting vulnerability with HTML in the "Help Menu - Support - Phone Number" site setting to limit the impact of a compromised Admin account.
