Service Update 2025-04-03

Please note: This update will be applied at the end of business hours on April 3rd  for the North America, Canada, and European clouds and the end of business hours on April 4th for the Asia-Pacific, Australia, and Japan clouds.

Panopto Core

  • Added a 'Move' option to the video’s ‘More  actions’ menu, which displays a new modal for quick video relocation.
  • Added a 'Copy’' option to the folder action menu, providing a modal for quick folder copy.
  • Updated our 3rd Party Caption API specification to send Delivery Id in addition to Session Id so admins can optionally get additional information about sessions before captioning videos. [Captions API specification for Panopto partners]
  • Fixed contrast issue: Search field borders now have a 3:1 contrast ratio, correcting the previous 1.5:1 ratio.
  • Fixed focus indicator issue: Tab navigation on  the viewer's left panel is now black, improving visibility for users with moderately low vision.
  • Added visible  focus indicators to form field borders throughout the product to ensure proper keyboard navigation for improving accessibility.
  • Fixed  an issue where Canvas identity provider batch provisioning could fail after deleting provisioned folders and running a second batch.
  • Fixed an issue with D2L identity providers where user synchronization would fail following the completion of bulk provisioning.
  • Fixed an issue with Blackboard Ultra that could cause batch provisioning to fail when provisioning tens of thousands of courses.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause pages to load slower than expected for customers in the APAC region.
  • Fixed an issue where a caption would disappear from the ‘Available Captions’ after being changed to a language that was also set as the folder's ‘Content Language,’ when ‘Auto Detect Language’ was enabled. Captions are now retained and correctly displayed in the ‘Available Captions’ section regardless of language settings and auto-detection status.
  • Enhanced the setup and discovery experience for upcoming Webcasts created via the 'Create' menu, across both the core VCMS platform and the Panopto Connect add-on. Key enhancements include:
    • Creators can now optionally specify an expected date and time during Webcast setup.
    • Upcoming Webcasts are now displayed within viewers' accessible folders.
    • Webcast thumbnails in folder list views now show scheduled date and time.
    • Viewers can add upcoming Webcasts to their calendars.
    • A countdown timer appears as the Webcast's start time approaches.
    • Clear indicators show when a Webcast is live for easy joining.
    • Webcasts scheduled through this method are also displayed via Panopto Connect linked folders.
    • Important Notes:
      • These updates do not affect Webcasts scheduled via Remote Recorders.
      • These features can be disabled via a site setting.
      • Adding Date and time are optional, and not required for webcast set up.

Connect

  • Fixed an issue that prevented Panopto Connect Portal Managers from resetting their passwords.

Access AI

  • Improved our AI-powered transcription, key points extraction, and summary generation to mitigate excessive processing time in specific regions and instances.
  • Fixed an issue where Access AI functionality would fail when the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) language was set to English (United Kingdom) or English (Australia).
  • Added a disclaimer to the viewer for sessions that contain Access AI summaries to communicate that ‘AI-Generated content may contain errors.’
  • Fixed an issue where enabling "Auto Detect Language" would prevent users from manually changing the available caption language. Users can now freely switch between caption languages even when auto-detection is active.

Elai

  • Added an option to launch the ‘Elai AI-Powered Studio’ within the Panopto Create menu, available for creators, videographers, and admins when this add-on is enabled. This will appear in both the VCMS and LMS embedded folder views.
  • Added 'Elai' as a video source in Panopto analytics, enabling customers to identify videos published from Elai.
  • Fixed an issue with videos imported into Panopto from Elai that could display a ‘Could not upload’ error in the UI even though the session uploaded and processed successfully.
