Adding caption files for two sequential streams in the same recording

I have a Teams recording that was interrupted mid-stream; I somehow ended up with two video files that overlapped by about 20 seconds. I've added the second video file as a second primary stream and adjusted timing so that the video experience is seamless. The issue I'm having is that each video file has a separate vtt caption file. I was able to add the caption file for the first stream, but I don't seem able to add the second caption file for the second stream. Does Panopto give me any way to do this? Or will I have to go through the (very painstaking/time consuming) process of adding the second caption file's contents to the end of the first caption file? I would like to avoid the manual option, since it would require me to change the time stamps for every line of the second file.

  • Honestly, I would probably just scrap the captions coming from Teams and request new ASR captions from Panopto.

Ideally, you'd have the two sessions with the aligned captions then use the Panopto "Merge" function to combine the streams into one session which should preserve the alignment of the captions on each stream.
