  • I had the same issue. Here's the 2 most probable causes:

    --- Check Microphone Access----

    1. Open the privacy settings in Windows. You can do this by typing in privacy and selecting Privacy settings or by going to Settings and then choosing Privacy.

    2. On the left, find the microphone and select it.

    3. Check the setting "Allow access to the microphone on this device" and make sure it is on. It should say Microphone access for this device is on.

    4. Check the setting "Allow apps to access your microphone". Make sure this is On.

    5. Finally, check which apps can access your microphone section to make sure Panopto is on. Please note that users may have two sections that list apps. One would be for the store apps, and the other would be for desktop apps. Panopto should be listed under desktop apps.

    ----Check Audio Drivers---

1.Click on the Start menu and type in Device Manager. Click on the Device Manager entry of the search results

2.Search for Sound, video and game controllers. Windows will show you the hardware associated with your computer’s audio chip. If it’s not detected, you will see an entry that looks something like this:Finding missing drivers on Windows 10

3.Double-click on the audio entry and switch over to the Driver tab. From here, click on Update Driver.

4.Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

    5. Click Next to install the driver. In a few seconds, you should see something like this:Update Drivers - Cirrus Logic
