Bottom padding when "Responsive embed" selected
in General Q&A
When embedding a video, the div in the embed code has a padding-bottom attribute set to 56.25% if Responsive embed is selected, which adds a bunch of unwanted blank space below the video. Is there a reason why this attribute exists in the code?

Hey Adam!
Great catch on this. We do this to maintain a 16:9 container for the embedded video. This improves compatibility with certain platforms. In CSS, percentage sizes are based on the content width, so a bottom padding of 56.25% means the container's height will be that proportion of its width, which works out to 16:9.
We have a feature request to allow Admins to set the default code for embedded content (e.g., a specific height/width). If you'd like, I can add your organization to that request!
