Improved Automatic Captions

We've upgraded the engine that powers Panopto's automatic captions and transcripts. You'll notice improved accuracy across newly created videos, especially where previous captions may have struggled, such as speakers who have accents, less widely spoken languages, or content with technical terminology.

Now you can expect fewer word errors in your captions and transcripts, better language detection, and faster captions when recording or streaming live.

This will be applied automatically without any action on your part, but only affects videos created after this release has completed. Any existing videos will need to have their captions regenerated to see the improvements.

Workday Integration

You can now publish your Panopto videos directly into Workday Learning, making your training content discoverable in the catalog your employees already use. Your Learning and Development admins can surface Panopto content right alongside everything else in Workday, without exporting and re-importing files.

Once the integration is set up, Panopto Admins can publish specific Panopto videos to your Workday Learning catalog. Videos will show their title, description, and thumbnail, all as they appear in Panopto.

When an employee selects a Panopto video in Workday Learning, it opens in the Panopto player and signs them in automatically using the single sign-on your organization already uses. No second login, no extra credentials to remember.

To use this integration, you'll need:

• An active Workday Learning subscription
  
• Panopto and Workday configured with the same single sign-on provider
  
• A Panopto administrator account to set up the connection
  
• A cloud-hosted Panopto site

Bug Fixes

Panopto embedded videos now include the local network access permission required by Kollective. Without this, the Kollective-powered player couldn't make requests via EdgeCache or Peers, so video delivery couldn't fully leverage your Kollective network.

Fixed a bug where putting a phrase in speech marks when searching for specific strings in videos wasn’t working as expected. You can now wrap your search in speech marks to find videos containing that exact phrase. For example, searching "project update" will return only videos that include those words together.
