August 2026 Release Notes

New Release Format

Going forward, we will release updates weekly. This frequent, predictable pattern allows us to quickly address any unexpected issues and ensure transparency on what we're working on.

The first, second, and third weeks of the month will be dedicated to resolving issues, performance improvements, and other minor adjustments. The final week of the month is reserved for bigger items, like new features or significant changes to existing features.

Given the frequency of these updates, we will now be using a single thread per month to communicate all releases. For example, this thread will be updated weekly until the end of August with all of our normal release notes. Next month, a new thread will be created, and those release notes will live inside of that thread.

If you have any suggestions or feedback regarding this new format, please make a post in our General Q&A forums.

August 6th, 2026

This update will be applied after business hours on Thursday, August 6th.

    August 13th, 2026

This update will be applied after business hours on Thursday, August 13th.

The following issues have been resolved:

    • The "Summarize" option now appears consistently in the video action menu, whether you access a video via search results or from the folder view.
    • Panopto for Windows no longer gets stuck in a reauthentication loop under specific circumstances.
    • Pressing the Space key in the Accessibility Requests table no longer triggers page scrolling.
    • The Add and Close buttons in the Department menu are now fully accessible via keyboard navigation and screen readers.
    • Removing your own access to a folder by pressing the Tab key no longer causes the UI to freeze. Instead, you will be correctly warned that you cannot remove your own access to the folder.

The following minor features have been added:

In the Change Owners window, the "Review selected videos" modal now displays a live "X videos selected" count in the title, which updates automatically as videos are removed from the list, giving you an accurate count of your current selection.

When editing a video's thumbnail for a session with reference copies, a new "Update reference copies" toggle appears above the Save/Delete/Cancel links, which is enabled by default. If left on, the thumbnail updates across all reference copies of that video. Editing a thumbnail on a reference copy itself doesn't affect the original video.

    August 19th, 2026

This update will be applied after business hours today, Wednesday, August 19th.

The following features have been improved:

    • The Date Created filter while browsing videos has been significantly expanded. You can choose specific dates and dynamic ranges, such as all content before or after a chosen date. This now opens in a new window when you click the Date Created (calendar icon) button. All of these new features are also fully accessible via keyboard navigation.

    • The bulk Change Owner UI has been improved to provide clearer warnings when there is a partial failure, a specific count of videos that couldn't be changed, and a list of the problematic videos. Additionally, when all videos fail because they're in a personal folder, a new link called View folders takes you right to the personal folder in question. From there, you can use the existing bulk move/copy to move the videos to a folder the desired Owner can access.
    • The options within the Caption Styling page are now fully accessible via keyboard.

    August 26th, 2026

This update will be applied after business hours tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26th.

The following features have been improved:

    • A new "Download" option has been added to the kebab menu. When you click it, you can download the Audio podcast, Video podcast, or Transcript for that video. This option is restricted to users who can already download videos and doesn't grant new access to the feature; it only makes these options easier to access.

    • When setting up a new Microsoft Teams integration, you will now be asked to choose between full permissions and reduced permissions. With reduced permissions, the chat import and auto-delete options will be disabled and can only be used once full permissions are granted via the new Advanced Settings section on the Microsoft Teams Integration page. Even with full permissions enabled, you can still enable or disable one or both features, allowing you to control exactly how the integration behaves. This change does not affect any existing integrations.

    • A new public API has been added for bulk scheduling Remote Recorder sessions. Using this API, you can submit and validate large scheduling jobs together, rather than one at a time. Submit your premade CSV with your desired schedules, then start the job. The CSV will be validated and, if applicable, you will be warned about any errors or conflicts. Authentication is through OAuth2 client credentials, and access is scoped. That way, a job is never revealed to anyone without permission to see it
