record presentation slide by slide

edited March 2021 in Product Questions

Greetings,

Is it possible to record a full presentation slide by slide, instead of using slide narration, and then export the whole presentation recording into one mp4 file?

    Hi Thomas,

You should be able to record your full presentation following the steps in How to Create a Video Using Panopto Capture for Panopto Basic and Pro: Select Screen and Application Sources.

To download your presentation as an MP4, open your recording in the Viewer, and select the download icon from the upper right-hand corner:

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Cait,

I mean to record one slide with voice narration, save it, then record the 2nd slide, save it, and so on. At the end concatenate all individual mp4 files into one that contains the whole presentation recording.

  • You could do this in a few ways, but depending on the number of slides this could turn into a ton of work.

If you just need the ability to record at different times, I might recommend the "Resume Recording" feature: https://support.panopto.com/s/article/basic-recording-1#hTargetInstance7

This will allow you to record a bit, stop and review, then return later to record more. It would require that things are recorded in order, but it would work.

You could also record a new session for each slide, then combine using clips, but captioning such a session is going to be a nightmare and managing all of the sessions is going to be difficult.

    Hi Thomas,

Apologies for my misunderstanding. You could record and save each slide video into your folder, open the first of these videos, and then use the Add a Clip tool in the editor to add the subsequent slide recordings. To learn how to use this tool, please see our documentation How to Use Add a Clip to Splice Multiple Sessions Together.

Once you've done this and applied/saved your changes, you can open the video in the Viewer and download it as an MP4, as described above.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to ask.

    Best wishes,

    Cait

Edit: To add Michael's comment above, the Resume Recording feature is not available to Panopto Pro users.
